The “Heritage is Our Brand” project, funded by the European Union and implemented by DMO Albania and EU Policy Hub, has launched the national competition “Living Heritage”, open to students in lower secondary and upper secondary schools across Albania.
The initiative aims to encourage young people to discover, document and creatively interpret the intangible cultural heritage of their communities, drawing inspiration also from the 40 stories featured on the Albania Heritage platform.
Through the competition, students are invited to explore and present stories, customs, legends, rituals, songs, traditional crafts and local traditions through contemporary artistic and digital formats.
Participants may apply individually or in groups in several categories, including Essay/Story, Theatre/Performance, Graphic Design and Multimedia.
The first phase of the competition will take place from September to November 2026, while the evaluation process and award ceremony are scheduled for November 15–30. Entries will be assessed based on creativity and originality, their connection to cultural heritage, artistic and technical quality, and their educational and cultural impact.
A number of prizes will be awarded to the winners. The first-place winner will receive €200, the second-place winner €150, and the third-place winner €100, while participants may also receive certificates of recognition.
The application deadline is November 15, 2026.
