“Albania Heritage” has launched a new podcast series dedicated to tourism, history, cultural heritage, and Albanian stories. The series focuses on the “Heritage is Our Brand” project, funded by the European Union and implemented by DMO Albania and EU Policy Hub.
The series will consist of around 15 episodes, focusing on the artists who received grants through the project. In the first episode, Eva Kushova, Director of DMO Albania, and Blerta Tuci, Coordinator of “Heritage is Our Brand,” discussed the achievements and results of the project, which began in January 2024.
The project places a particular focus on young people and their knowledge of Albania’s intangible cultural heritage.
A study conducted as part of the project identified around 40 stories related to Albanian intangible cultural heritage.
Meanwhile, a questionnaire involving young people from Albania and the diaspora highlighted the need for greater awareness and for this heritage to be more fully integrated into the education of younger generations.
According to the findings, many young people have learned traditions primarily through their families, while schools remain an area where greater efforts are needed.
As part of the next phase, the project will organize a forum with teachers and a national competition for young people, based on the 40 heritage stories identified through the project. The aim is to bring these stories back to life and reinterpret them from the perspective of today’s younger generation.
The podcast series aims to highlight the people, stories, and values that make up Albania’s rich cultural heritage.
