The Power of Storytelling in Preserving Intangible Heritage

The project “Heritage is our Brand” organizes a roundtable on the topic: “The Power of Storytelling in Preserving Intangible Heritage,” implemented by DMO Albania and EU Policy Hub, with financial support from the European Union.

Researchers, cultural professionals, policymakers, and practitioners will participate in this event to reflect on the role of storytelling in protecting and promoting Albania’s intangible heritage. The event will highlight the results of the project, including the study of 40 stories that reflect living traditions, rituals, and local knowledge across different regions of the country.

The discussion will emphasize the importance of storytelling as a bridge between history and contemporary society, a powerful tool to engage young people, teachers, tourists, and local communities in understanding and appreciating cultural heritage.

Participants will also explore ways in which these stories can be integrated into artistic expression, archaeological sites, and cultural tourism initiatives, contributing to a richer, more inclusive, and sustainable approach to the interpretation and promotion of intangible heritage.

This roundtable discussion will bring together participants from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sports, the Academy of Sciences, cultural institutions, as well as representatives from universities, media, artists, cultural organizations, and the tourism sector.
