The National Forum \u201cEducation as a Bridge: Passing Intangible Cultural Heritage on to Younger Generations\u201d is organised within the framework of the \u201cHeritage is Our Brand\u201d <\/a>project, implemented by DMO Albania in partnership with EU Policy Hub, with the financial support of the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forum aims to bring together teachers, historians, heritage experts and other key stakeholders to reflect on the role of education in preserving and transmitting intangible cultural heritage in Albania. The event will serve as a platform for presenting 40 tangible and intangible heritage stories developed through the \u201cHeritage is Our Brand\u201d project, adding value to extracurricular curricular materials for both teachers and students through legends, traditions and stories passed down from generation to generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stories such as Teuta, Queen of the Seas; King Genti and the Miracle Flower; the Story of the Tower of Isolation; the Myth of Cadmus; the Dragon and Kulshedra; Baba Tomorri; the Sacred Deer; the Gorge of Tears; the Berati Codices; and the Bay of Grama are valuable elements of Albania\u2019s heritage that should be passed on to younger generations, particularly through heritage clubs and extracurricular artistic activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discussions will focus on integrating intangible cultural heritage into the education system, treating it as a powerful tool to strengthen cultural identity, foster creativity, and increase younger generations' engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants will also explore concrete ways to integrate intangible cultural heritage into the curriculum, revitalise practices such as school handicraft clubs, and use digital tools to make teaching more interactive and inclusive. Teachers will also receive project materials, including the Heritage is Our Brand publication, materials from the www.albaniaheritage.com platform, and artistic products created so far, to share with children as sources of inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forum will also inform teachers about the launch of a national competition for students from schools across the country, in which children will present creative works inspired by stories of intangible cultural heritage. The winners will be announced in October during Intangible Heritage Week.\nThe event will bring together representatives of the Ministry of Education; the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport; educational and cultural institutions; universities; civil society organisations; heritage experts; as well as history and literature teachers from schools across the country, contributing to the development of a more sustainable and inclusive approach to education on intangible cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
