{"id":4993,"date":"2026-06-19T06:46:28","date_gmt":"2026-06-19T06:46:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/albaniaheritage.com\/?p=4993"},"modified":"2026-06-19T06:51:56","modified_gmt":"2026-06-19T06:51:56","slug":"perurohet-bazorelievi-thirrja-e-gurit-kushtuar-legjendes-se-grykes-se-vajes-ne-kruje","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/albaniaheritage.com\/en\/perurohet-bazorelievi-thirrja-e-gurit-kushtuar-legjendes-se-grykes-se-vajes-ne-kruje\/","title":{"rendered":"Bas-Relief Installation \u201cThe Call of the Stone\u201d Dedicated to the Legend of Gryka e Vaj\u00ebs Inaugurated in Kruj\u00eb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 16 June, the inauguration ceremony of the bas-relief installation \u201cThe Call of the Stone\u201d was held at Gryka e Vaj\u00ebs, Kruj\u00eb, specifically at the tourist gateway to the Qaf\u00eb Shtama National Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This artistic project was one of the 15 winning initiatives under the small grants scheme \u201cHeritage is our Brand\u201d, funded by the European Union and implemented by DMO Albania and EU Policy Hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project, conceived by Besiana Shehi, and the bas-relief created by artist Klodian Luca, was inspired by the Legend of Gryka e Vaj\u00ebs, which commemorates the sacrifice of 90 girls from Kruj\u00eb in 1478, who chose death rather than captivity by Ottoman forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This artwork aims to preserve and promote one of the most powerful legends of the Kruj\u00eb Highlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event began with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Municipality of Kruj\u00eb and DMO Albania, signed by the Deputy Mayor of Kruj\u00eb, Ms. Yllka Sheta Kukalaj, and the Executive Director of DMO Albania, Ms. Eva Kushova.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants then moved to the site where the bas-relief \u201cThe Call of the Stone\u201d was installed. Prior to the inauguration ceremony, students from the Kruj\u00eb Cultural Centre performed a concert featuring traditional songs and dances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the ceremony, remarks were delivered by the project initiator Besiana Shehi, artist Klodian Luca, Deputy Mayor of Kruj\u00eb Yllka Sheta Kukalaj, Executive Director of DMO Albania Eva Kushova, and project coordinator Blerta Tuci.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through this project, the organizers aim to strengthen cultural memory, honor the resilience and dignity of Albanian women, and promote cultural tourism in the Kruj\u00eb
