The association "Ecologists for the Region” has more than two decades of experience in sustainable development and community-based projects, building a bridge between environmental protection and cultural heritage preservation. They have demonstrated this expertise through their previous project, “The Epic of the Mountains of Lumë,”where they transformed local legends into tourism attractions, thereby safeguarding intangible oral heritage.
FLIJA: TRADITA ON SCREEN
Abstract
Flija is far more than a dish; it is an ancient symbol of hospitality and Albanian cultural heritage. Widely regarded as the “queen of traditional dishes,”it plays a fundamental role in family ceremonies and celebrations.
Its preparation is a social ritual that brings together women and girls within the family, transmitting not only culinary knowledge but also values such as cooperation and collective work.
Through this project, we aim to document its essence—the emotions, memories, and personal stories of those who have preserved this tradition over generations—ensuring that the heritage of flija continues to live on.
