SONGS AND RITUALS – JAZZ SUITE

Abstract

The Jazz Suite represents a new musical format in Albania. The selected narratives from Albania's intangible cultural heritage will serve as the foundation for the composition of the jazz suite "Songs and Rituals."Each movement of the suite will incorporate traditional musical motifs and stylistic elements, as well as folk songs originating from the regions associated with the selected stories. These folkloric materials will be interwoven with the harmonic, rhythmic, and improvisational language of jazz.

The musical composition will closely follow the narrative development of each story. Throughout the performance, the stories will be narrated and/or sung by two actors, enabling the audience to engage more deeply with the work through its historical and geographical context.

The concert, with a duration of approximately 60–70 minuteswill be open to the public, with a particular focus on engaging high school students.
